Kingston Introduces 128GB Flash Drive

Kingston Technology just released the world’s first 128GB flash drive. 128 G-I-G-A-B-Y-T-E-S. That’s around a hundred ok-quality full-length movies, at least 20,000 mp3 songs or 100,000 jpeg photos.
If you’re looking for a portable storage device for your photos, videos & MP3s (or a temporary storage for those times when you have to reformat your computer), a 128GB flash would be handy. The flash drive also has an encryption system built-in.
But with a $549 price tag, I think I’ll pass for now and wait for CD-R King to come up with their own 128GB flash drive.

Signed. Now I can play WoW anywhere, or even show my Maria Ozawa documentaries to Manang at Netopia.

ooh nice. it’s still a tad bit expensive for my taste but this will really come in handy when the price goes down.

I bet it’ll be within “affordable” range in a year.

I’d rather buy a portable hard disk than this for now :D

Yeah, while Full of Woah Awesome, it’s rather pricey – a portable hdd is still cheaper… (hell, I’ll go with… oh, four 1 tb hard drives. Screw portable.)
Or just buy a laptop (The little netbooks run about the same range anyway!) (granted, no gamez, but I could load up the thing with a crapload of movies in mp4 format and mp3s, and I’m good.)

Rory:
Yeah, for the price of a 128GB flash drive I can get a netbook plus a portable hard drive.
It should be cool within a year, though. I remember how expensive 256MB flash drives were back when they first came out. Nowadays, 256MB flash drives are as good as giveaways.
